Why I Write

An introduction to Ambi Writes: The books, Essays, and Transmissions Taking Shape Here

I write this piece as an introduction for those who may visit this little corner of the World Wild Web (intentional typo, my friends).

But in all honesty, I am writing this for myself, too. This is a way to formalize my intentions as a writer in this new era.

It’s one thing to write about my writing in my journal. It’s another thing to talk about it with a trusted loved one. But it’s an entirely different thing to write about it publicly and so openly, especially as someone who has pulled back from sharing publicly over the last few years.

In many ways, this first post is me putting a stake in the ground.

It is a way of saying: I am here, I am writing, and I am ready to let this part of my work be seen more fully.

Why I Write

As this is to be a space for my writing, it feels right to begin with why I write.

I believe our whys matter. Sometimes (oftentimes in my case) more than our whats. Because our whys are the foundation beneath everything, they are the seed and roots from which everything else grows.

So today, I’m sharing some of what poured onto the page during my Morning Pages practice recently, as I sat with the question of why I write (1).

——————————————————————

Somewhat selfishly, I will admit that first and foremost, I write for me.

I write to both express myself, as it feels the most natural form of self-expression, and I write to process.

I write because it makes me feel less alone. Putting pen to paper, tapping out words on the page, makes me feel as though my thoughts aren’t in my head, swirling around with just me, myself, and I.

Whether the words are scribbled onto the page or tapped out onto a Word document, writing feels like a connection to a higher power, as though I am in touch with God, the Universe, and all of Creation.

And I immediately feel less alone.

——————————————————————

Writing to me is a spiritual practice. Ever since I could write at the age of 4, almost 5, I have always written to process, communicate, and tell stories.

I write because I cannot not write.

As cheesy or lofty as it sounds, I write because I am, and I am because I write.

——————————————————————

I also write for others, for you, reading this right now.

I write for others because I want them to feel less alone. Sometimes sharing our stories with an open heart is a balm for another’s soul.

I write to inspire and uplift others, to have my words touch souls in ways that improve earthly lives.

I write because I want my readers to trust the process of life, healing, becoming and unbecoming.

I write because I want those who read my words to trust in themselves and in the unseen.

I write to offer hope and faith.

I write because I want my readers to find their way, just as I found and continue to find, my way.

I write for kinship.

What I Write (And More Whys)

Here is the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth.

I don’t want to be constrained by what I write.

I am very (very) over the old paradigm of putting people in boxes and niches.

I live my life outside of a box and titles, and have done so for some time (2).

Thus, my writing will also live beyond boxes and niches.

I write what I feel called to write about, the things I am passionate about sharing, and the stories that I wish to be told.

——————————————————————

It will come as no surprise that I am deeply passionate about energy mastery, personal development, and whole system well-being (3), for our highest good and the greater good of all (4).

This is not merely my life’s work. It is my life.

As some of you may know, I am in the middle of writing my next book about the Chakras, sound healing, somatic experiencing, and the nervous system. I had to pause my writing, which led to a restructuring of the book and delayed progress, but I believe it will make the book even more useful to readers in the long run (5).

This next book is part of a series I hope to publish in the next few years, exploring similar themes.

It may come as little surprise that, as someone who went on quite the journey to become a mother, I consider motherhood and family life my ultimate soul purpose. I am passionate about all aspects of motherhood—from conception and pregnancy to postpartum and mothering—through the lens of energy mastery, nervous system regulation, resilience and flexibility, clearing and healing familial karma, the subconscious mind, neural rewiring, and accessible, sustainable self-care.

I expect I will write a series of books on these topics over time.

——————————————————————

I am also passionate about writing fiction. I HAVE written fiction (6) with much more in draft form.

I love exploring consciousness through characters and embarking on a journey that transforms us through fiction rooted in real-life observations and experiences.

I believe storytelling has its own alchemy and can serve as a salve for the soul.

I say this as an avid reader, and I hope that, as a fiction writer, my books will have as much impact on readers as other authors have on me.

To me, reading fiction is a form of healing and personal development. At times, it is simply good entertainment—sometimes it makes you gasp, sometimes it makes you weep, and sometimes the tears come from deep belly laughter. And sometimes that is the perfect tonic (and alchemy) for our souls.

——————————————————————

Sometimes my writing will be me sharing my personal experiences and observations.

Sometimes they will be educational and of practical use.

Sometimes they will be light-hearted and funny.

Sometimes my writings will be sweet and frothy (7).

Either way, I will write only from my heart and soul and share what wants to be written.

I will not be adhering to any ‘shoulds.’

I will not write on an enforced timeline. I trust that divine timing works alongside my very human capacity as a full-time mum of two young children.

In this age of technological temptation to make us faster, better, etc., creators, I am choosing to bask in the humility of humanness and will share my words in an imperfectly perfect way, which I believe captures the essence of being human.

This is my stake in the ground.

This is the foundation.

This is the seed and the roots.

This is my commitment.

This is my next chapter.

Welcome to Ambi Writes.

Footnotes

(1) Also of note, WHY is a question I have been asking myself, in one form or another, about almost everything over the last six years (coinciding with the death/rebirth cycle of becoming a Mother), and I will write more about that in another post.

(2)  Maybe it is because I am a Human Design Reflector?  Could also be down to my progressed Sun being relatively newly in Aquarius and having transiting Pluto conjunct it over the last year or so.

(3)  When I refer to your/my/our systems, I am referring to our mind, body, and soul. More on this in a separate piece!

(4)  If you’ve known me for a while, you will know that I truly believe in collective change through individual change. As Gandhi said, “Be the change you want to see in the world.” We cannot change our world without first changing ourselves. I have a lot to say about the shift from self-centered, individualistic, borderline narcissistic self-care and manifesting to a more wholesome (and whole-system) approach to well-being and energy mastery that will not only improve our lives but also create a butterfly effect. Think less of me, me, me, and more of me and us.

(5) Quality and coherence are more important to me than speed and convenience.

(6) I have an edited manuscript of over 60,000 words ready for final edits and formatting. It was completed almost 12 years ago! More on this soon…

(7) I quite literally have a work in progress on the importance of frothy drinks for our system!
